The goal of writing is to make a difference. A difference in society. A difference in lives. A difference in thinking. It depends on the author’s story, I guess. Something has prompted each and every one of us to be passionate about something. In the few moments, I would like to share with you one thing that has prompted me into this journey of writing.

I’ve enjoyed walking into libraries small or big, breathing in the indescribable scent of books or scanning the colorful movie sections. But not always did I like English. I had to work through an extra book—not to mention big for an earlier grader. Though English wasn’t always my cup of hot chocolate (LOL), more and more I liked to pick up a pencil and imagine as I watched the nature of the US fly past me from outside my window. Soon, the school’s demand for reports was quite enjoyable for me.

Finally, after moving and being able to get the library’s schedule and everything, my fingertips could caress the bindings of books and my mind could wander through the many stories. I picked one book up titles Princess Juniper of the Hourglass by Ammi-Joan Paquette. After this book, my reading took off. The Princess Juniper collection was my favorite. I wrote to the author. I wanted to make the books into movies. I even have several copies of the books now.

And then, school’s finishing eighth grade assignment came. Write a book. Or perhaps a smaller one than Captain She became. Yep, Captain She. I liked that title. Something intriguing and eye-catching.

Captain She took a long time to write, undergoing many m-a-n-y changes. And the more I read, the better I could write. And I more I wrote, the better I could . . . well, write. It also helps that the library hosts a wordsmithing shop. Plus, God provided for me to go to my first writer’s conference with one of my favorite authors! And now . . . my book is in a process before I may send it to a book agent!?

When I was little, I wanted to be a Sunday school teacher, sing at America’s Got Talent, and do gymnastics. I didn’t think that God wanted me to be an author, but I’m so glad He has called me to be. It’s a privilege. And beyond me. One of my favorite verses in Jeremiah 33:3, “Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.”

God brings things into our lives to shape us into who we were meant to be like moving, traveling, school, etc. Stay willing to the Author of life. He’ll show you and guide you. His plan has your best interest in mind and it’s sooooo much better than our own plans!
