“But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength….” (Isaiah 40:31, King James Version)

Passage: Isaiah 40:25-31

Moving to another state in the next week piled the pressure to pass my driver’s test. I passed the written version, submitted fifty hours of practice, and prayed that I could get my license. It just was logically the best way. Think about it—if I got my driver’s license in the state that I got my permit in, I’d skip the hassle of transferring hours and training for another state. But, no. I failed and was required to wait a week, closing in on moving day. So, that week, after bawling my eyes out, I trained hard and prayed hard. And yes. I passed!

Sometimes waiting feels like a punishment, but it is not. In fact, waiting on God is actually a good thing. It is obedience and a process of something that is well worth waiting for. Waiting on God is trusting that his way is best and following him through all the questions. Like verse 31 shows, God gives the strength to those who wait on him.

Have you been praying? No matter if the answer is a “no”, “wait”, or “yes”, one thing is certain: God’s way is best and well worth the wait. This week, list events where God actually turned your plans around for the best. This week, share your desires to God, dig into his Word, and rely on his strength. This week, as you drive through all the hills and turns of life, wait.
